Google Local One Box Got You Down?
Mike Blumenthal knows local search. In fact he knows it so well that even Googlers occasionally stop by his Olean NY office for a straight up mix of constructive criticism and insightful encouragement. Long recognized as the authority in the local search space, Mike is affectionately known as Professor Maps among industry colleagues.

Mike Blumenthal, aka Professor Maps, is teaching local search at the October DFWSEM meeting.
When changes happen in the local search space, you can rely on Mike Blumenthal to be on top of them. Local search is key for businesses whose revenues are generated primarily from customers who live in close proximity.
In local search, the One Box is the result that is most favorable.
Getting a site to show up in the Local One Box is the one thing all local-dependant business owners are striving for, but very few really understand how to make it happen.
Mike comes to DFWSEM in October to present The Google Local One Box – Where does it come from? Why does it show? How can you get one?
Mike has looked at dozens and dozens of local search results, noticed significant correlations and developed several small scale tests to determine whether:
- It was possible to trigger a one box where none had been before
- a business could “break into” an existing “branded” One Box
In this session Mike will take you through his correlation research, causal studies, and position the results in a “theory of relevance” that can help drive better local search results for your clients and their business.
At the end of Mike’s presentation you will understand when and why Google displays the Local One Box in search results. You will also see what triggers the One Box; and what is meant by a “relevance threshold.” Armed with this information you will be able to understand local search results in the broader context and be able to theorize ways to achieve the same results for yourself or your clients.
Put simply, if you want to learn about Google’s Local One Box from the very best in local search, register now to see Mike Blumenthal in Dallas on October 14th.
