Just when you thought DFWSEM meeting events couldn’t get any better, we found a way to turn up the heat for August.
Our next super-charged event brings you not one, but two outstanding speakers.
Prepare yourself for a journey into the future with Pubcon identities Brett Tabke and Joe Laratro. Both are ready to “bring it” for the DFWSEM audience (cue dueling banjos) and you simply won’t forgive yourself if you miss it.
Baby, you ain’t seen nothing yet
Brett Tabke cut his teeth in the computer industry long before the web was unveiled to the world. After three decades at the forefront of web development and search marketing, he is now best known as CEO and founder of Pubcon Inc. When Brett speaks, smart people listen.
Steel your synapses for an eye-opening look at the future’s most disruptive devices as Brett presents SEO and Social Virtual Reality.
You’ll learn about Facebook’s multi-billion dollar gamble on virtual reality and how it stands to be the most disruptive device since the iPhone. If you thought the era of the smart phone was the biggest thing ever, you should probably think again. More money has been spent on VR development in the last two years, than was spent on mobile phones between 2000 and 2008.
So what does this massive investment mean? It’s simple. The VR wave is coming.
The real question is what it means for you. How will you identify the tipping point for virtual reality? When should you care, and how do you factor it into your own digital marketing activities?
Brett will help you answer these questions and explain how the emergence of VR technology will disrupt all current marketing practices. As with every emerging trend, it can be hard to tell the difference between “red hot” and “red herring.” Listen carefully and learn to spot the difference.
SEO today and tomorrow
Joe Laratro is a man who knows how to get results. Fortunately for us, he also loves sharing his knowledge. We think it’s a winning combination and you need to be here to hear him.
Digital marketing success for the long-term is a best practice game. So what exactly are the best practices for SEO today? What has changed, why did it change and which tactics should you avoid at all costs? Joe Laratro will answer these questions as he lays down a roadmap of best practice methods and tactics to help you navigate today’s complex search landscape.
But Joe has never been one to rest on his laurels. Real success is about so much more than today and he is always looking to understand the way of the future.
Search is literally changing by the second. Search engines test, iterate, update and rearrange every day across markets, audiences, verticals and time zones. The old adage is certainly true for us in digital marketing: “The only constant is change.”
Social is integrated with organic search. Google’s algorithm becomes increasingly complicated with constant updates. The Internet of Things and Mobile are quickly changing the way we search and how we must optimize for those queries.
Joe Laratro will put all this in perspective for you and nail down specific best practice techniques you should be thinking about for tomorrow. Don’t waste time on things that don’t bring real returns. Take note of these practical, actionable best practice tips from Joe and take control of your own marketing destiny.
We don’t want you to miss these great insights from Brett and Joe, but we don’t want you to keep this outstanding learning opportunity to yourself either, so don’t come alone. Please share the event with as many of your colleagues and friends as possible and be sure to let them know we’ve made it super easy for non-members to attend.
Those who have never attended a DFWSEM Meeting before can register for free with the code virtualreality. We hope you’ll take up this fantastic opportunity to hear both Brett Tabke and Joe Laratro speak at DFWSEM.
Register now to secure your ticket and join us at NOAH’S Event Center on August 12. Meet and Greet begins with check-in and a free drink ticket at 6.00pm. Be sure to join us after the presentation for networking, light supper, and another free drink!

More about Brett Tabke
Brett founded PHD Software Systems, a specialty software manufacturer that produced a line of software for Commodore computers in the 80’s and 90’s. He authored several books on assembly language programming for Western Design on the 65816 micro processor. Tabke was the noted author of Karma 128.
When the web “arrived” he was among the earliest adopters, running community networking sites continuously since 1984. The evolution from stand-alone BBS, to web forum and on to building real communities is a logical extension for Brett.
His fascination with the web spurred him to start building web sites and learn as much as possible about online traffic. He quickly became an expert and had soon become a source of information for many business contacts and associates who were looking to get better traffic from search engines.
If you’ve ever wondered who was responsible for those classic SEO terms we all use every day, Brett Tabke can claim his share. He coined the terms “Link Farm”, “SEO Themes”, and the classic “SERP” (Search Engine Results Page).
The truth is, if you’re looking for an authority on Search, you really can’t go past Brett. He was a founding board member of SEMPO and featured in the Biography Channel special on the Google founders. He is the first person known to have fully decoded the Excite search engine algorithm and most of the Altavista search algorithm. He wrote a chapter of the bestselling book “Google Hacks”, and his “26 Steps to 15k a Day” is one of the most widely read documents in SEO history.
