One of the terrifying things about search and social media is it’s ability to amplify mistakes and flaws to a broad audience. Even private disputes can get escalated to massive sensations, such as the United Breaks Guitars video that was seen by over 14M people.
On the other side are consumers that use social media threats to extort discounts from businesses.
With all of this confusion, what is a business to do?
To answer that question we will have two experts in reputation management.
Mike Orren, President of Speakeasy, will be discussing how humanizing your company can help with your online reputation. These best practices around content marketing and online dialogue will give us with a proactive strategy for keeping your best impression in front of potential customers. Mike will offer us the perspective of how to jump into online conversations and use an authentic voice to diffuse otherwise incendiary situations before they can get out of hand.
On the other hand, Kenton Hutcherson will discuss some actions we can take when a reaction is required. Websites hosting defamatory, libelous content don’t bear any legal responsibility to remove that content and, more often than not, will not and do not have to honor court orders. But Google will. Kenton Hutcherson’s presentation will cover what your legal options are and how to use Google to regain control of your online reputation..
