Culture, Diversity, and Inclusion Policy
DFWSEM is committed to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion. We believe that knowledge is enhanced by a variety of perspectives, and our goal is to create an inclusive, respectful environment that invites participation from all people.
We embrace and encourage our members’ differences in age, color, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our members unique.
DFWSEM’s diversity initiatives are applicable—but not limited—to our practices and policies on board recruitment and selection; professional development and training; social and recreational programs; committee selection; speaker pitches and selection; and the ongoing development of an environment built on the premise of diversity equity.
We’re actively seeking to increase the diversity of our attendees, speakers, and sponsors through our calls for proposals, other open submission processes, and through dialogue with the larger communities we serve. Here are some ways you can help us build a more diverse conference experience:
- Recommend appropriate speakers and/or program committee members to members of the DFWSEM board; you may also send an email to [email protected]
- Forward our speaker submission page to relevant affinity groups with the message that we are looking for a diverse speaker roster
- Suggest to potential speakers that they submit a speaker proposal
- Share your ideas and best practices on how our conference can be more welcoming and supportive, free from intimidation and marginalization (send an email to [email protected])
All members and volunteers of DFWSEM have a responsibility to treat others with dignity and respect at all times, and expected to exhibit conduct that reflects inclusion during any DFWSEM-related function.
Any member or volunteer found to have exhibited any inappropriate conduct or behavior against others may be subject to disciplinary action.
If you believe you have been subjected to any kind of discrimination at a DFWSEM event that conflicts with this diversity policy or the Conference Code of Conduct please seek assistance from a member of the DFWSEM board.
We value diversity in the communities we bring together, and we welcome your contributions to bringing balanced representation of the richness of the digital marketing community.
